This course examines tubular daylighting devices (TDDs) as an effective daylighting strategy in ICC 500/FEMA P361 storm shelters and safe rooms. Specific TDD models have endured stringent testing and are the only roof-top daylighting solution on the market to achieve ICC 500 / FEMA P 361 storm shelter compliance. Learning Objectives: • Learn about the history of tornadoes and the early years of classifying tornado intensity • Understand what events drove the creation of the Enhanced Fujita scale • Examine ICC 500 and FEMA P 361 as a code and guideline and their impact on storm shelter construction • Examine TDDs as a daylighting strategy for safety and welfare of occupants in ICC 500 / FEMA P-361 storm shelters and safe rooms Length: 1 Hour Credits: 1 LU / HSW
